Free yourselves: 2026
No sympathy for The Devil
Description
Two raised fists, one clenching a broken chain, emerge triumphant on the left side of the canvas, referencing not only the African American struggle for equality but the worldwide independence movement in the 1960s of countries previously under colonial rule. LeRoy Clarke painted Now shortly after moving to New York from Trinidad and Tobago, which achieved independence in 1962. The painting speaks to the urgency of Clarke’s mission: “I paint with an intention for revolution . . . . I paint for enlightenment, to bring us closer to parting the darkness and opening up the way to our origins.”
Some of you will immediately clock those chains in the Tarot image. Ridiculously loose, aren’t they?
It’s going to be crucial to notice where chains are loose because the wardens are overconfident, the guards are lazy, and the overall system is rickety, built on a foundation of lies that have started crumbling.
Think of this card, ironically, as offering a timely portal.
As you navigate this year, learn to notice your moments. Your Go! times. Your opportunities to spring to true freedom.
Miss them, and it might be a while ‘til they come ‘round for you again—if ever.
2026 is a restless, bucking year, a 1 year and a Fire Stallion year. You’ll feel its fire all around you and within you, energetically shaking things up.
You have the chance to overthrow internal forces holding you back, including your own complicity with the agenda of external power structures. You have a chance to overthrow external structures, too, as you band together with others similarly restless.
Spirit has planned for me a year devoted to living not only in my body but as my Spirit Self and discovering what that means in any given moment. I’ll refer to this often in my Zoom Séance Community sessions (join us!) as well as my work here on Substack. And it’s good to start with one of the typically “scary” cards, The Devil, because that common fear draws its oxygen from trauma wounds, false beliefs, and distractions.
My Spirit Self—yours, too—has no time for falsities and for harmful agenda and, unlike, my little local self, it refuses to feed them energy.
Preserve your energy for your liberation and emergence.
Now, to discover what portals and possibilities that opens!
Tell me what you think.
